As a child, Sophie Mendoza would watch her mother bake cookies to earn money for the family during the holidays. In 2000, inspired by her mother, Sophie asked if she could use her mother’s cookie recipe to do the same. This little project would soon take on a new direction.

Sophie developed a passion for baking and realized the potential of her craft. She began baking cookies during the holiday season and expanded to chocolate cookies, cupcakes, and finally began baking cakes. As her talents expanded, so did her clientele. She was able to make specialty cake creations for friends and family and soon received orders for her sweet creations from others who had tried them.

Eager to expand her talents, Sophie began formal courses to further develop her craft, and in June 2005, Yummy Cakes and More opened to the public. Ever since that first cake was created, Sophie has strived to make each and every cake better than the last. With multiple Restaurants, Schools, and Event planners as loyal clients, Yummy Cakes and More is quickly becoming known for having the best tasting cakes in South Florida.
